Tim Green Syracuse lives in the Greater Syracuse Area and is a lawyer, television personality, former collegiate and NFL player, coach, and best-selling author. Tim attended Syracuse University where he graduated with an English Degree and was an All-American in football. in 1986, Tim was drafted in the first round to the Atlanta Falcons but in NFL off seasons he was able to become a lawyer as well as a published author before he retired from football in 1994. Tim has written two nonfiction titles: A Man and His Mother: An Adopted Son’s Search and The Dark Side of the Game. In A Man and His Mother Tim tells about the void that was felt as an adopted child not knowing who his biological mother was. Even though Tim was raised in a loving family that supported him, he still had the desire to search for his biological mother.

Tim Green attended Liverpool High School and was a first team all-state selection in both his junior and senior years. In 1982 he was selected as the Upstate New York Player of the Year. With his play in high school, Tim was sought after by every major university around the country but he decided to attend Syracuse University. In 1982, he became a starter on the defensive line and remained a starter for the next three years. In his career at Syracuse, Tim set multiple records including most sacks in a season (15), most sacks in a game (4), and most sacks in a career (45.5) which is a record that he still holds today.
Tim Green Syracuse was also a consensus All-American, an academic All-American, a Syracuse Scholar, a Football Foundation Hall of Fame Scholar, a Rhodes Scholar Candidate and Finalist, an NCAA Top Six Scholar, and co-valedictorian of his class. Tim had multiple highlights at Syracuse, including being a team captain, playing for George O’Leary, beating two top 20 teams as a sophomore, beating an undefeated, number one ranked Nebraska team his junior year, being a preseason All-American selection his senior year and going to a bowl game that same year. Tim was also a voted Syracuse University Football’s Most Valuable Player in 1985 and in the same year was awarded co-player of the year in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference. When Tim’s career was over he had recorded over 341 tackles and he entered the 1986 NFL Draft. He was selected as the 17th overall pick in the first round by the Atlanta Falcons.

In his NFL rookie year, Tim Green had to make the transition from defensive line to linebacker. His first three years unfortunately each included stints of being placed on the injured reserve list. In his fourth year, however, he began transitioning back to defensive line where he excelled. In the 1989-1991 seasons Tim recorded 121 tackles and 37 quarterback pressures as well as four forced fumbles and six sacks and led the defensive line in almost every category for the Falcons.
Tim had an exciting career that lasted eight seasons and in 1994 he retired from the NFL. Before retiring Tim had become a lawyer and a published author and three years after Tim published The Dark Side of the Game which explained his career and his experiences. The book was a New York Times Bestseller and was featured on 60 Minutes. After retiring, Tim was selected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2002 and continued to stay close to the NFL as an analyst with FOX Sports for eleven years.
